Recover after a failed reconstruction or measurement rebuild

Distinguish a failed status read, a stopped build and a failed scale rebuild. Keep existing options safe, check floor balance and retry with the right evidence.

INK TO BRICKUpdated 3 min read

Read the failure message before uploading the drawing again. A page that cannot read a running job is different from a job that has reached a failed state. A measurement rebuild is also different from the first reconstruction: it uses retained source evidence to create a fresh option at a known length. Record which operation stopped and preserve the options you already have.

1. Reopen the project and read its actual state

Open the same project from the dashboard. If the request is still queued or running, let it finish; do not start a second build to fix a status-read error. Where the building page shows Unable to read the building request, Retry this job reads that request again. This does not mean starting another paid reconstruction. If the page reports a stopped job, read the affected floor and any source or preparation issue.

What stoppedNext step
Reading progressRetry the existing status read or reopen the project. Confirm whether the job is running before submitting anything new.
Source preparationReview the supported format, file size, selected page, crop and permission to upload. Resolve the stated blocker before retrying.
A paid floor buildCheck the terminal result and your floor balance. A failed paid build returns the floor to the balance; this is not a promise of a cash refund.
One level in a buildingKeep the successful levels, identify the failed level and its returned floor, and review the partial result before choosing the next request.
A measurement rebuildExisting home and options remain unchanged when the rebuild fails. Review the reason before retrying.
Choose recovery from the reported state.

2. Check source evidence rather than guessing the cause

Compare the chosen page and crop with the complete drawing. Look for missing boundaries, unreadable dimensions, several floor plans on one page, perspective distortion or fragments assigned to the wrong level. Correct a source defect when you can identify it. A legible source can still be reconstructed incorrectly, and repeatedly uploading the same bytes does not establish a solution. Keep uncertain areas out of fit or purchasing decisions.

3. Recover a rebuild from a known measurement

In the room measurement flow, select the intended Room and Wall, then enter Length you measured from a trustworthy source or site measurement. Rebuild from this measurement creates a fresh option; it does not silently rescale all options you drew. After success, old drawn options may be marked Drawn at the old scale. Compare the new option against a second independent dimension before treating sizes as checked.

  • If the home is still building, wait for the first reconstruction to become ready.
  • If the model was not built from a plan, uses an unsupported older reader, or no longer has its source outputs, the measurement rebuild cannot proceed through this route. Preserve the current model and request help with the stated limitation.
  • If five rebuilds have been used that day, follow the displayed next-day retry instruction. Repeating the request does not bypass the limit.
  • If the home already has three options you drew, review them and archive an option you no longer need before rebuilding. Do not discard the only useful baseline.
  • If the rebuild did not finish, the existing home and its options remain unchanged. Retry later when the reported condition permits it.

4. Verify payment and the recovered model separately

Check whether a floor purchase or balance use completed before opening another checkout. An eligible first one-floor model can be explored and edited before purchase, but saving requires its floor. Additional or ineligible builds need prepaid floors. A payment confirmation, a returned balance and a saved revision establish different things; confirm the one your next action needs.

After recovery, inspect Plan and 3D, room connectivity, openings and the dimensions involved in the failure. Confirm the intended option and save state before exporting or sharing. Keep the source drawing as a separate comparison reference. If the discrepancy remains, record the room, wall, expected dimension, observed result and visible error message when requesting support; never send account tokens or private drawing contents to a public forum.

Review multi-floor drawing preparation when the source spans several pages, or the reconstructed-model checklist when the job finished but the model disagrees with the drawing.
