A guide image is a drawing you lay under the model and trace over: a scanned plan, a brochure sheet or a photo of a sketch. A scan is the 3D version of the same idea, a GLB model of the real space that you draw against.
Add a guide image
- In the bottom toolbar, open References. It holds two lists, Guide images and Scans.
- Choose upload and pick an image file.
- The image lands on the current level and opens in the inspector, ready to place.
Set its scale from a known length
A drawing only helps once its scale is right. In the inspector, under Reference Scale, choose Set Scale. Click both ends of a length you know on the drawing, such as a dimensioned wall, then type its real length. The image resizes to match, and it locks so you cannot nudge it by accident. Esc cancels the measurement halfway.
Edit Scale redoes it, Hide Scale and Show Scale toggle the reference line, and Clear Scale removes it and unlocks the image. Measure a floor plan PDF explains how to pick a length worth trusting.
Line it up and trace
With the image selected and unlocked, drag it into place, and press R or T to turn it by 45°. Quick Actions in the inspector center it, reset its rotation or reset its size. In References, lower its opacity so the walls you draw stand out against it.
Then trace: press B and draw the walls over the lines of the drawing, as in Walls, fences and columns.
Hide, replace or remove it
References shows or hides all guide images at once. In the inspector, Hide and Show affect one image, Lock stops it moving until you press it again, Replace swaps in a new file, and Delete removes it. Delete also removes a selected image.
Use a scan as a reference
Under Scans in References, upload a self-contained .glb file. The scan sits on the current level as a reference you can move, hide, fade and delete, and you draw walls against it the same way you trace a drawing.
