Placing and arranging in the expert editor

Once a piece is on the cursor, the editor checks where it can go. This page covers placing, turning, selecting and moving pieces, the shortcuts for copying them, and the kitchen and shelf tools that build a run along a wall.

Place a piece

Pick a piece in the Items tab. It follows the cursor, sitting on the floor of the room under it.
Press R or T to turn it by 45° either way before you place it.
Click to place it.
Press Esc to put the piece down without placing it.

A lounge chair picked from the furniture list rides the cursor into the living room in 3D, with distance guides to the walls and a red outline where the spot is taken, while the key panel lists Place item, Rotate, Force place and Cancel. — Pick a piece and it follows the cursor; click to place it.

If something is in the way, the preview shows the spot is blocked and a click will not place it there. Hold Alt as you click to place it anyway. C switches between placing once and placing several copies in a row.

Select one or several

Press V for the Select tool and click a piece. Hold Shift and click to add or take pieces from the selection, or hold Cmd or Ctrl and click, which also works in the Scene tab. Click empty space or press Esc to clear the selection.

A small menu appears over the selection with the actions that apply to it, such as Move, Duplicate and Delete.

Move and turn

With one piece selected, hold Cmd or Ctrl and drag it to move it. Guides and snapping stay on.
With several selected, drag the selection to slide them together, or click it to pick it up and click again to put it down.
R and T turn the selection 45° either way. Several pieces turn together around their middle.
Hold Cmd or Ctrl and right-drag to turn a piece in 15° steps; add Shift to turn it freely.

Copy, group and delete

Cmd/Ctrl + C copies the selection and Cmd/Ctrl + X cuts it. Cmd/Ctrl + V pastes: the copy follows the cursor until you click. You can paste on another level.
Cmd/Ctrl + G groups the selection, so a click on any member selects them all. Groups last for this session and are not saved with the home. Add Shift to ungroup.
Delete or Backspace removes the selection. Deleting 10 or more objects at once asks you to confirm first.

Kitchen cabinets and shelves

The Kitchen tile in the Build tab places modular cabinets. Click to place a cabinet; C switches between a single cabinet and a continuous run, and I switches between a cabinet against the wall and a freestanding island. R and T turn it, Alt places it where something is in the way, and Esc ends the run.

The Shelf tile works the same way for shelves: click to place one, Esc to stop.

Arrange a row along a wall

For base cabinets from the catalog, Arrange along wall in the piece’s details lays out a repeated row for you. Choose the room, the wall and how many pieces (up to 20), then Preview arrangement. The service checks fit and clearance, and nothing is saved until you choose Apply arrangement.
