Casa Costado: long living bay beside a kitchen–bedroom pair
Explore Casa Costado, a study of ResPlan plan 5520: long living bay beside a kitchen–bedroom pair.
Casa Costado is the editorial name for this study of ResPlan plan 5520, reconstructed in 3D by Lodnor. The living room runs the depth of one side, with an open passage reaching the kitchen and bedroom beside it. Two bathrooms sit beneath that passage, and the bedroom extends beyond their outer edge.
One continuous bay and a projecting room
Casa Costado contrasts a living room running the depth of one side with the neighboring kitchen and bedroom. The bedroom extends beyond the bathrooms' outer edge, making the outline uneven. Read the long shared bay and projecting private room as different spatial conditions rather than one evenly divided box.
Its reported model bounds are about 10.00 × 5.35 m in width and depth. This is a useful orientation cue for the cutaway, not a measured statement about a property. Judge the arrangement first, then verify the particular dimensions a proposal depends on.

The passage joins the side-by-side zones
An open passage reaches the kitchen and bedroom beside the long living room. The two bathrooms below that passage add destinations near the connection. A seating layout along the long bay must therefore leave a legible approach to the side rooms, even if the room’s far end appears clear.
Use the length without overlooking the cross-route
Arranging furniture along the living room’s depth can reinforce its proportions. The risk is a continuous row of pieces that blocks the cross-route to kitchen and bedroom. Leave the connector as a deliberate break in the composition rather than squeezing it through leftover gaps between furniture.
Trace across the long room
In an overhead view, mark the open passage and draw seating along the living bay. Trace a cross-route from that seating toward the bedroom and kitchen, then compare a second layout with a deliberate gap at the passage. Identify whether the gap improves access to both bathrooms too.
The gap at the passage should work as a deliberate cross-connection, not an incidental break between pieces; check where the gap leads as well as its apparent width.
