Automatic recognition is the starting point
Planner 5D already offers automatic recognition. Its guidance asks for clear overhead drawings, one floor per image and dimensions in the source. It also describes manually correcting missing walls. An upload feature alone therefore does not distinguish INK TO BRICK, and a furnished preview is not evidence that either tool interpreted every opening correctly.[1]
Before choosing, mark the details you cannot lose: the entrance, terrace access, a narrow passage and any unusual wall angle. Compare the result with that same drawing. If the source is ambiguous, resolve it with reliable information rather than treating a plausible model as confirmation.
Choose the editor around the changes you need
Planner 5D gives direct control over wall thickness, ceiling height, openings and furniture dimensions. Choose it when redrawing the shell is central to the job. INK TO BRICK focuses on design directions, linked visuals and portable handoffs from an existing plan.[2]
INK TO BRICK keeps the design decision connected to the model: edit a separate direction, frame the current view, generate a presentation image, compare it with the capture and retrieve the exact GLB revision behind it on Plus and above. Public releases then let anyone inspect the spatial result from more than one camera angle.[6]
A CAD drawing and a 3D model serve different handoffs
Planner 5D Professional documents CAD export for technical documentation. INK TO BRICK offers a broader handoff set: SVG, scaled PDF, layered 2D DXF and native AC1032 DWG plans; GLB, packaged glTF, OBJ, COLLADA, STL, 3MF, SKP, IFC, STEP and USDZ models; JSON, CSV and XLSX data; and PNG, JPEG and WebP views. Plan gating applies: the library starts on Plus, DXF, DWG and SKP need Creator and above, and IFC and STEP need Business.[3][5]
Ask the recipient for the required format, then inspect a representative file in that destination. SKP carries mesh, material and texture data; IFC carries canonical rooms, walls, openings and properties; STEP carries faceted surfaces without editable parametric history; USDZ carries static meshes and materials. These are not native Revit files, a complete engineering model, app-certified fidelity or video, and STL and 3MF still need print-readiness checks.
