Casa Diagonal: diagonal bedrooms beside a paired bathroom core
Explore Casa Diagonal, a study of ResPlan plan 8389: diagonal bedrooms beside a paired bathroom core.
Casa Diagonal is the editorial name for this study of ResPlan plan 8389, reconstructed in 3D by Lodnor. Two bedrooms occupy opposite corners, leaving a broad living room and enclosed kitchen between them. The bathrooms form a pair beside the upper bedroom, and a short open passage connects this cluster to the living area.
Private corners around shared rooms
Casa Diagonal places the bedrooms at opposite corners rather than together along one edge. A broad living room and enclosed kitchen occupy the intervening space. This distribution offers a useful study of separate sleeping positions, without establishing actual acoustic isolation or equal room size.
The reconstructed envelope is approximately 9.83 × 7.60 m, using the public model’s width and depth. Keep that overall scale separate from bedroom width, passage clearance and furniture size: each needs its own check against a dimensioned source or a site measurement.

One bathroom cluster is closer to one bedroom
The paired bathrooms sit beside the upper bedroom in the drawing, with a short open passage reaching the living room. That location makes the two bedroom-to-bathroom journeys worth comparing. Do not infer equivalent convenience from having two bedrooms and two bathrooms; the connections tell the more useful story.
Keep the diagonal routes legible
A living-room arrangement can define a gathering center while preserving the routes toward both corners. The kitchen enclosure adds another destination around that shared area. Begin with these connections before placing a large central piece; otherwise one bedroom’s approach may become an afterthought behind the furniture.
Compare the two nighttime journeys
Locate the opposite bedrooms and bathroom pair. Trace a trip from each bedroom toward the bathroom cluster, then sketch a central seating arrangement. Compare which route passes behind or between seats, and whether shifting the group improves one bedroom’s access at the expense of the other.
Compare the two bedroom routes to the same bathroom cluster without assuming equal convenience; their differing relationship to the shared seating is the exercise’s useful result.
