Casa Contrapunto: two-bedroom layout with opposing side recesses
Explore Casa Contrapunto, a study of ResPlan plan 380: two-bedroom layout with opposing side recesses.
Casa Contrapunto is the editorial name for this study of ResPlan plan 380, reconstructed in 3D by Lodnor. The kitchen and living room occupy one side, connected through an open central passage. Two bedrooms line the other side, separated by a bathroom, while the second bathroom and small setbacks shape the opposite outer edges.
A square model envelope with opposing setbacks
Casa Contrapunto has equal reported width and depth, yet its outline includes opposing side setbacks. Kitchen and living room share one side, with bedrooms on the other separated by a bathroom. The second bathroom and edge changes keep the actual footprint from being equivalent to its square model bounds.
The reconstructed envelope is approximately 8.32 × 8.32 m, using the public model’s width and depth. Keep that overall scale separate from bedroom width, passage clearance and furniture size: each needs its own check against a dimensioned source or a site measurement.

The central passage connects uneven edges
An open central passage links kitchen and living room and serves the room group across the plan. The side setbacks can make neighboring edges appear balanced in an overview, but their local effects differ. Trace actual openings rather than assuming the same furniture depth works equally well on opposite sides.
Symmetry is a comparison tool, not a source fact
A balanced furniture composition might suit the brief, but it should be tested against the setbacks and central passage. Do not mirror a cabinet across the plan merely because its reported bounds are square. The source gives distinct room boundaries that matter more than an attractive symmetrical diagram.
Compare a mirrored proposal with a room-specific one
Locate both exterior setbacks and mark the central passage. Sketch similar storage footprints on opposite sides, then trace kitchen-to-living and bedroom-to-living trips. Compare an alternative that adjusts each piece to its actual edge, recording where the mirrored arrangement creates an avoidable obstruction.
Equal model bounds do not require mirrored furniture; the room-specific comparison should explain how each opposing setback changes access, without adding a claim about outdoor use.
