Casa Ala Cocina: Projecting kitchen beside a two-bedroom rectangular core
Projecting kitchen beside a two-bedroom rectangular core. A layout study from ResPlan 961.
Casa Ala Cocina is the editorial name for this two-bedroom layout study based on ResPlan 961. The public tour offers a way to inspect room connections and boundaries; the name does not identify a built residence or commissioned renovation.
Reading the Casa Ala Cocina layout
An enclosed kitchen projects from the side of the living area, opposite a pair of stacked bedrooms. Two narrow bathroom bays occupy the upper part of the main footprint, one opening from the living area and one from a bedroom.
The public model reports an approximate overall envelope of 12.878 × 7.994 m, with a modeled height of 3 m. These figures describe the reconstruction, not usable floor area, individual room dimensions or a verified building survey.

How the room routes connect
Unlike a kitchen contained within a straight room row, Casa Ala Cocina has a projecting working bay with its own approach. The living area connects that bay to the stacked bedroom side. The bathroom access is particularly important here: one comes from the living room, while the other comes from a bedroom. Those are two different privacy conditions, not interchangeable doors.
A furniture decision to compare
Keep the shared bathroom approach outside any seating enclosure you propose. The bedroom-accessed bathroom can be discussed as a different local relationship without assigning an owner or a principal bedroom. For dining, compare positions near the projecting kitchen door with positions farther into the main rectangle; the outer kitchen wing should not be flattened into the living-room outline.
Review exercise: Casa Ala Cocina
Trace a guest’s route from the living area to its bathroom and a bedroom user’s route to the other bathroom. Then trace kitchen-to-dining movement for two table positions. Keep all three routes visible in one overhead comparison. A table that shortens carrying distance but hides the shared bathroom approach should be reconsidered before evaluating its decorative appeal.
